Addendum by site administrator, Tony Magee:

This email from Buckingham Palace was in response to my application for a congratulatory message from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, for Mum and Dad's 60th wedding anniversary (March 15, 2018).

As it turned out, the correct procedure was to write to the Governor General at the time, Sir Peter Cosgrove, at Government House, Canberra, where messages of this nature (a lovely card with appropriate message from the Queen, including a picture of her Majesty) were distributed from.

This arrived in the mail at our parents home in Griffith a couple of weeks later.

Messages of congratulations also arrived from Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Chief Minister Andrew Barr, Gai Brodtmann MP and ACT Liberal Senator Zed Seselja.
