Stephen Pike is leaving The Q after thirteen years

by Steve White

You may be aware of this already, however, we are writing

to inform our valued patrons that Stephen Pike, the

Artistic Director of the Q, is saying farewell.

Stephen’s name has been synonymous with The Q since the opening of the theatre in March 2008. He has been widely credited with putting The Q on the regional theatre map and for its continued success. Stephen's connections in the theatre industry, his knowledge and his savvy programming style have mixed popular crowd-pleasers with cutting-edge theatre that has drawn audiences from all around the region.

Stephen staged smash hits for The Q, such as his 2012 revival of "Hair" and the musical " Blood Brothers", for which he won a special mention in the Manning Clark House National Cultural Awards. We will also remember his stunning performance in Chess in 2010 in which he played the lead role of Anatoly. His rendition of Anthem in this musical will long be remembered as one of the most moving moments on the Q stage.

We are sad to see Stephen leave, but we are also grateful for his great influence on the direction of the Q. He has been such an important part of The Q family for so long. We thank him for sharing his knowledge and passion with us and for influencing and supporting so many young performers on their own performing journeys.

Thank you, Stephen, we wish you well.
