Christmas with Tintin

Christmas was a source of great inspiration for Hergé. One of Hergé's oldest illustrations on this theme can be found in a story, Noël chouan, which appeared on 25 December 1927. Numerous covers of Le Petit Vingtième were devoted to Christmas as was also the case later in Tintin Magazine, published from 1946 until 1993.

The picture was later further colour enhanced.

Thompson and Thomson were introduced in Cigars of the Pharaoh (1934). Haddock first appeared in The Crab with the Golden Claw (1941) and Calculus made his debut in Red Rackham’s Treasure (1943).

The Christmas colour print was also used in a 2016 TV Documentary entitled Hergé: In the Shadow of Tintin (original title: Hergé à l'ombre de Tintin), directed by Hugues Nancy. (link here.)
