LENNON - THE OPERA
Continuing the long and fertile relationship with the Music Biennale Zagreb, that goes back to the very beginnings of this international manifestation, the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb will prepare, in collaboration with the MBZ, a world opening night of the new work of the contemporary Croatian composer Ivo Josipović, the opera “Lennon”.
The fate of John Lennon, one of the famous Beatles had been intriguing the composer for a long time and when Marina Biti wrote the libretto, the composer's work could be continued.

This story about the murder that had stirred the modern world, contains surrealistic components. John Lennon and the people who were important to him are the focus of the plot, as well as the murderer - Mark David Chapman - with his specific psychological profile.
There is an attempt to answer the question: what made a fan turn into a killer of the man he adored?

Composer Ivo Josipović has a very rich music career (A Game of Glass Beads, Jubilus for piano, Garden of Epicurus for a symphonic orchestra, A party for two pianos, percussions and strings, Samba da Camera etc.).
He continues a great legal and political career and is a member of several artistic, professional and scientific associations and bodies in Croatia and abroad.
He is also a selected member of the World Academy of Art and Science and the winner of numerous awards in the field of music.
Conducting the world opening night of the opera “Lennon” on the stage of the CNT in Zagreb is Ivan Josip Skender.
The work is directed by Marina Pejnović.
