ACT Government: Building today to transform tomorrow

A new indoor live music and exhibition venue with a capacity of 7,500 people will be built in the city, following the ACT Government’s update to the ACT Infrastructure Plan.

Combined with the redevelopment of the Canberra Theatre, the plan looks to create a modern entertainment precinct in Canberra’s city centre. The plan also sets out a pathway for a new, rectangular 30,000-seat stadium in the ACT.

A study will soon be conducted to inform the way forward for the stadium, including its location. Several arts and sports facilities are being built and upgraded across the region including the Phillip District Enclosed Oval and the first stage of the Stromlo District Playing Fields.
